In response to media coverage on financial collapses, corporate bailouts and the widening gap between rich and poor, Rodgers has produced over one hundred small paintings which will be installed in a former bank vault in downtown Oshawa.
Each piece is painted and/or collaged on cleaned, reused Styrofoam food trays, collected through diligently annoying all possible suppliers. The materials speak to issues of commoditization and an Arte Povera sensibility, and in this context the series is a continuation of earlier work using silt cloth panels retrieved from demolition sites.
